Why would they stop? They’ve just secured control of the scrotus for the next few decades, they might as well solidify all power into that position since it can’t change every 4 years.

    :(

The best bit will be when these loyalists will be sent to the work camps anyway because the great leader’s Cialis didn’t work that morning.

The reaper’s already in that fourth door, that meme is outdated.

I’ve been saying for years that the United States isn’t finished because the Constitution is still balanced.

Up until yesterday’s supreme Court decision, voting made a difference.

Absolute executive power could easily devolve into true US authoritarianism.

Ha, sorry, no offense was meant to you or the meme, it’s solid.

I meant the idea that the checks and balances were about to be completely destroyed was outdated.

The supreme Court already abolished the remainder of constitutional executive checks and balances, absolute executive power cripples US stability.

I understand what you mean. The future is scarily uncertain right now.

I encourage folks take that anxiety and turn it into productivity. Look into your local solidarity communities, which may take form as Union groups, local food shelfs, or many other forms. Donating your time or resources is what can help those most impacted right now and later down the line. There’s no cut and dry way to find them, you just have to look and ask around your community.

I would also recommend beginning to prep. There’s some small communities on Lemmy, such as [email protected] ( you can find others by searching communities with ‘prep’ in their name). There’s also some great podcasts covering prepping such as LLTWID and It Can Happen Here(this one is more heavy on current news but provides prep info in some episodes.

I would also say that keepingmyour ear on guntubers isn’t a bad idea (Brandon Herrera, Garand Thumb). Not only do they provide tutorials that are potentially useful in extreme cases (Garand Thumb’s urban and rural evasion tutorials and TRex Arm’s summary of radio comms for example), but they are also likely laying out the playbooks most amateur militia will use in the future (if it comes to that), which could be useful info to know going forward.

More like 1922 in Italy tbh…

All Nazis are fascists, but not all fascists are Nazis.

For example, the Nazis were big on public works projects and pretending to be socialists, both of which are anathema to the American Fascist Party that the GOP has become.

I think you’d do better at this point to study how resistance movements within fascism form and survive because that’s about to be a lot more relevant.

I found that fascinating and spent most of middle school doing my own reading and research on it. Although now I’m more terrified than fascinated.
