Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Lemmy should consider potentially renaming the “Karma” system to “Social Credit Score”?
This playful nod to the concept of social credit in China and other countries could serve as an ironic commentary on surveillance and governance, resonating with users familiar with global critiques of social credit systems.
Reasoning:
- Cultural Relevance: This name change could spark discussions about social justice, governance, and global inequality while attracting attention to Lemmy’s stance on leftist values.
- Humour: It introduces a layer of satire that aligns with the platform’s ethos, making interactions more engaging.
- Memorability: A unique name like “Social Credit Score” could enhance brand identity, making the platform stand out in digital discussions.
Adopting “Social Credit Score” instead of “Karma” could add depth and humor to user interactions, reflecting Lemmy’s political leanings while encouraging critical conversations.
I’ve had the same suspicion in another (now deleted) post 5days ago. Also had the same interaction. Said it sounds like ChatGPT, they replied and said no, I’m writing it. (I’m paraphrasing.)
Plus this is now their seventh post in this community within a week. Advertising some random ramblings about the Fediverse. And then not engaging with the discussion.
Thanks for pointing this out
