I like having ownership of my internet experience so I run a lemmy instance and my friend administrates it. It is more fun than using a botted network.
I started with it locally, but I migrated it to a hosting provider because of their managed services and I’m lazy. I take offsite hourly backups and own the domain so if anything happens I can rebuild it elsewhere.
I could only get it to work with docker and not using ansible, the instructions are pretty good but if you have a specific question I can try and help. I do IT for a living so I guess I filled in some context maybe https://join-lemmy.org/docs/administration/install_docker.html

Which provider? That’s nice to have that freedom
