Favermetrics raises a good point
Since Ottawa’s fuel levy was introduced in 2019
Only five years late. If there’s an election next fall, then a rollout starting in October will only get two or three payment cycles into Canadian’s accounts.
It’s a fine policy, but the public relations were bungled.
The left is waking up
Is it tho? In a Canadian context, I only see mobilization around Culture War wedge issues that are framed by the right.
Left leaning talking heads show up in current affairs shows, decry neoliberal policies, but that’s about it. There’s no mobilization around cost of living concerns, underemployment, or corporate gouging.
You can’t spell barbarian without “bare ass naked”.
Well. You can. But don’t tell the barbarians that.
My ninety-two-year-old great aunt has said she’s glad she won’t be around much longer, while others in their seventies have put it more bluntly: it’s a good time to die.
My grandfather said the same thing in the 1990s. Plus ça change.
an inability to meaningfully address the severity of our current polycrisis
That’s it, right there. People fear our quality of life is declining. Trudeau (I don’t know about Biden) has failed to acknowledge the fear, and has failed to popularize policies to improve our quality of life.
His opponents don’t even need to provide solutions - they just need to admit there’s a problem.

Fortunately there’s an invisible wall between the rogue and the bard.
My seven person team completes a stand-up in less than 15 minutes twice a week. Does it provide value? Probably not. Is it fast? Yes.
Oh my brother in Lemmy, I have all the time in the world.
Wearing its victim down through constant negative remarks, cruel pranks, and petty bullying.
It was one of the reasons I went with a Pro. Okay, it wasn’t a significant reason, but I was thinking about it.
I was pretty disappointed when Google’s Find My Network didn’t support UWB on release. Here’s hoping they finally support it if/when they release their own tracker in the fall.
Thank you for acknowledging that comment is inappropriate for a hope thread, regardless of how correct it may be.
Reminds me of that time I almost left the basement
Didn’t the last few Pixel Pros have UWB hardware? Is that enabled yet?
Decades ago, they devoted as much as a third of their profits to reinvestment. Today that number has shrunk to a piddly ten per cent.
Meanwhile, our productivity has been dropping. What a coincidence! 🤔
I think my next stop on the TTRPG tour will be Blades In The Dark. I borrowed the flashback mechanic for a 5e heist and it was pretty great.
Keeping the thermometer in the 9 Pro seems like the most interesting part of this story.
I’ve started using the thermometer in my P8P. The UI is terrible. But sometimes I want to know how hot something is.
