Prior to these results, a few weeks back, NPR was trying to make it seem like the far-right and the “far left” were working together. It was the most bizarre, disjointed reporting I’ve heard in a while. They want people here to believe the center/left is extreme and uncompromising.
The detail in Kenshi is pretty amazing. I don’t normally get sucked into single player games, but the design really does give the impression of nearly unlimited freedom, every different starting scenario feels genuinely unique. The slave start particularly was a ton of fun.
It’s pretty amazing that it was designed by basically one guy. He was really efficient in how he chose what game elements to invest his limited development time into and clearly had a really strong vision. I hope he can get a few more devs onboard to develop a second one, I feel like even two or three other people would make so much more possible.

Some time this century most likely. Climate change along with China/Russia’s pursuit of empire along with their global campaign to seed and normalize autocracy will result in collapse eventually.

Funding a genocide and providing the literal bombs and bullets to carry it out is complicity. Other countries doing it is utterly irrelevant.

Regardless, you can’t win an election without the anti-genocide contingent, so you should instead focus your criticisms on those committing the genocide and trying to extort voters into supporting it.
Luckily the anti-genocide demographic of the party hasn’t backed down and the pressure they helped create might actually get Biden to step down at this point. It wouldn’t have been a possibility if people caved on genocide like you think they should’ve. Democratic conservatives know they’ve over-extended themselves thinking theu could still do the same old “lesser evil” schtick and now they’re scrambling to do their job.
The people who aren’t guarunteed to vote democrat not matter what fall into two major categories 1) anti-genocide center left. These people want to be able to vote democrat, but simply can’t compromise so far to the right as Biden has gone. Pressing the brakes on Israel support is not a super high bar, this group is looking for any sign that the Democrats are capable of listening 2) people who saw the debate performance and think Biden is too old.
Neither of these groups are hard to capture, and the reason most people aren’t strongly calling for any specific candidate is probably because everyone understands it would foster divisiveness and be pointless. The most logical choice would be Harris; she would get access to Biden campaign funds, she’s been in the whitehouse, she’s a woman when abortion is on the ballot, she’s responsible for Biden’s support by black voters and she has distanced herself from Biden’s braindead support of Israel. And, of course, she’s not ancient.
So if I was speculating I would say it would be her who would quickly move to the front of whatever convention process might happen if Biden stepped down, but more importantly I think people are being unspecific because they don’t need a specific person, they need “Not Biden” because at this point Biden is a surrogate for a Trump win. So think of it as “Not Trump”.
“Temporarily” has a pretty consistent habit of becoming permanent. It’s either malicious or extremely naive on Lenin’s part to believe that ypu can concentrate power into the hands of a few people and then they’ll just voluntarily give it up.

Yes, Lenin also prescribed dictatorship. His mindset was inextricable from the imperialist context he lived in, it limited his ability to imagine further. Which is part if why communism has always failed or collapsed into a fascist state capitalism (like China).
Uh, China doesn’t forgive the loans, they seize the assets, that’s the whole point of debt colonialism. They can’t colonize by force and no one trusts them to host their military bases, so they use debt to build a port or whatever and then when the host country can’t keep up on exhorbitant payments they take the port and ta-da, they’ve expanded their geopolitical reach.
China is in a hyper-imperialist push right now.
I can’t speak for the anarcho-primitivists but I can say I’ve been alive long enough to understand that a lot of miracle tech is just a cash grab or a way or distracting from the real solutions. Like carbon capture instead of just investing in renewables and zero emission solutions that exist.
Tech bros are intellectually and morally careless and if what they say seems to good to be true, it’s likely not.
To be honest I’m pretty energized. Not for Biden obviously, but just glad to see Democrats actually shifting their asses and just for people to finally be piecing together the predicament that the Democratic establishment has put us all in. There’s potential for actual change here, even if it requires going through some chaos and pain.
The pressure of the non-vote threat is actually being felt by party leadership and they appear to be delicately trying to create an environment that will allow Biden to accept that he needs to step down. It would actually be huge for the party’s health if they pulled it off.
Biden hasn’t changed though. He’s still the same old pro-austerity, pro-corporate, “respectably racist” Republican-at-heart conservative he’s always been. You just can’t see it because Trump is so much more extreme.

It’s not out of context, it’s exactly what he said and meant. And he’s repeated that sentiment on multiple occassions.
If you need a more recent example to ignore, in 2022 he attempted to make some kind of distinction between MAGA and non-MAGA republicans because he still is dumb enough to believe there’s some contingent within the GOP that’s not fully onboard with fascism. Even after the decades of lies and double-dealing, of Republicans pushing to capture the courts and voting consistently to strip Americans of their rights, it hasn’t sunk in. Not even after January 6, after the whole party united behind Trump.
He actually thinks there needs to be a balance between “good” Republicans and Democrats, which is a deeply idiotic notion at this point and betrays the fact that he doesn’t actually want to achieve any of the progressive policy he cribbed off Sanders to win in 2020.
I dunno, I get this as much from old people too. I think it’s less an indicator of age and more an indication of people who aren’t great at thinking.

The man is just incompetent and nostalgic for the “good old days” when Dems and Republicans would play grab ass together and hoodwink the public together to protect the status quo and grow the wealth divide. This whole fascism thing, though clearly signaled decades ago, has him scratching his head. He simply doesn’t get it and is too mentally calcified to keep up with the paradigm shift in politics.
