When do we start getting the stable weather? Is it after Daylight Saving starts? I’m tired of the wind and random rain
Hate is probably too strong a word, but man do I intensely dislike David Seymour.
Him and his ilk were probably calling the Labour government a nanny state - they seem to really love regulation now though
Maybe Friday? People are generally more relaxed on a Friday than Monday is my thinking…
The Rambler looks great but I currently have a Weber kettle as well, which serves most of my grilling purposes. Mainly setup with a vortex to do chicken wings and other pieces. I have an Espeto Sul too, but it’s a bit annoying to use on the kettle. No one makes a riser for it, so can’t do lid on. I’ve thought about getting a cheap second hand Weber Go Anywhere so I can get a riser to use with the rotisserie. But then I’m also wanting a tabletop hibachi so we can do korean bbq or yakitori for the kids…
I like the concept of an offset (and I’ve watched a lot of videos on them lol), but I don’t really have time for fire management and long cooks :( I love the idea of cooking over wood too, sometimes I’ll do sausages or something on the little firepit. Maybe when the kids are grown up I can get an offset.
Haha yes I actually figured out the same, I used my small battery workshop blower on low setting to force air into the inlet and it gets it going really quick. It has a flexible rubber nozzle so I can basically squeeze it into the inlet.
I don’t think I’ve seen any mutton around, but I haven’t really been looking. I’ll have to keep an eye out.
Sadly I was too lazy to spritz my ribs yesterday and they ended up way too dry. They weren’t the meatiest ribs either which didn’t help, or I left it at too high a temp. I’ll have to practice more!
I’ve been thinking about getting a drum smoker for awhile, but was expecting not to get one until next year sometime. I was kind of tossing up between this and a Pit Barrel Cooker, then the Bronco popped up on one of my saved sellers on Trademe and I had to jump on it.
Pretty happy with it so far!
Good idea with the scheduled posting. I gravitate to these kinds of threads, mainly as sometimes I don’t really have anything relevant to add to news or political posts.
I snagged an OKJ Bronco for a great price a couple of weeks ago as a damaged packaging product. Turned out it was pretty much perfect inside except for a couple of small scratches which I covered up with enamel paint very easily.
Managed to hang a lamb leg in there last weekend which turned out delicious. Might try to do some ribs in there if the weather is decent this Sunday.
Maybe time for an automod to make the thread? If that exists on Lemmy
Thanks!
I thought about not going but it didn’t seem like it would stop bleeding. Unfortunately it wasn’t the type like a slice where you could hold it together and it clots up and stops bleeding. The doctor couldn’t stitch it either, I think the word he used was “trimmed”. Deep enough to continue bleeding but no way to close it up, hence the cauterisation. It’s not fun I can tell you, it’s also on my dominant hand which is annoying as I can’t get it wet!
Well it finally happened, sliced a chunk out of my thumb using a mandoline last night. Spent almost 4 hours at two different ED’s to get it cauterised and a tetanus shot as it wouldn’t stop bleeding. Now my thumb is wrapped up in a super tight bandage that can’t get wet for 2 days and I have to take antibiotics again.
Shouldn’t have got cocky with the mandoline 😮💨
I see. The doc at first was going to prescribe amoxicillin, but mentioned if it was glandular fever it would make it worse. But she changed it to roxithromycin which should be safe according to her.
I think I’m getting better, but I’m still taking a few pain killers which makes it hard to tell if I’m actually better.
Well they haven’t got back to me with the test results yet, but I already started taking them and the antibiotics. It’s definitely seemed to help me yesterday and I managed a much better sleep last night without as much pain on waking up. What should I be concerned about with the steroids with glandular fever? I understand antibiotics wouldn’t do anything as it’s not a bacterial infection.
Thanks, luckily managed to squeeze in and get a doctors appointment this morning, so now have some extra antibiotics and steroids to take. She is thinking either strep throat or glandular fever, also did a blood test so they can confirm.
Does it do anything? I’ve been drinking a lot of lime/lemon juice
The stupid thing is I know exactly how I got it too. My wife had it for around two weeks previous and lost her voice and everything. Then a couple weeks ago I stupidly grabbed her cup from the night before which hadn’t been washed yet (I usually wash them up in the morning) to quickly get a cup of water to drink. I remember thinking “it’ll be fine…”
Currently day 10 of whatever sickness has been going around. Spent all of last week with constant nausea, then last weekend in bed. Been popping ibuprofens and paracetamols for the last few days just to get through. Still getting a bit of nausea, but head and ears are feeling lots of tension and throat is swelling up, but now combined with the fun being unable to sleep through the night for the last few nights! To top it all off can’t get a doctor’s appointment for more than a week. I guess I’ll just resign myself to either being better or dead by then.
Drinking a whole teapot of green tea before bed last night wasn’t a great idea, I couldn’t get to sleep until around 1am
