  • My hot take is that we get full automated commercial plane before single pilot.

Single pilot means that there is no way to avoid an air Berlin like mass murder (and being locked alone in a cockpit doesn’t sounds great for mental health). No pilot means less risk to have such a scenario

Sure we need risk analysis (accident caused by humans versus humans preventing accident) and most likely newer ATC protocols, and some upgrade in equipments, but I doubt there it a major obstacle.

  • Welcome back,

You’ll see the same communities/magazine no matter what’s the instance you use. However, some delay due to federation is possible, it’s espacially a problem with .world due to their relative weight.

The local feed means you’ll see post from your instance, which may-be interesting as you’ll see content you like if you choose a thematic instance, but it’s not a blocking feature.

Then there is a bunch of weird instance, like grad where right-winger are role-playing being leftist by shit-posting on how much they love Kim il sun or Vladimir Putin. these are defederated by most big instances and you won’t see their content (and believe me, you miss nothing)

  • Location is the most iportant, meaning that the realistic option is appartment

    • Can get fresh breakfast on the week-end with a 5 minutes walk, and do not need to plan a weekly grocery trip when I have everything down the stairs

    • Do not need to drive home if I get a drink

    • Have access to tons of activities within a reasonable distance, no matter whether I want to learn Korean, watch stand-up comedy or listen to underground heavy metal

    • Kids can quickly get some autonomy compared to suburb where road are full of cars and parents need a car to go every where.

  • Clear and accessible policies, and in general HR being at least honest and consistent with what’s written there. I know what kind of hotel I can book, or whether I am eligible to an upgrade when travelling, and don’t have to ask to get my double-pay when working on sunday. It’s a pitty that this bare minimum isn’t guaranteed in many employers

  • This actually a pretty interesting take.

I see how it can work with experienced players ready for some experimental game, but indeed it’s not something I’ll do on another context for the following reason.

I don’t know whey some people seems to strongly decorrelate the system from the rest of the game. The mechanic is a component of the game theme and mood and a good pairing Setting/System is important. To be cliché you’re not going to use D&D to play Chtulhu unless you want to do a dungeon crawling agaisnt Mi-go

Many players don’t have a feeling about which game mechanic they can come with

This kind of discussion works if you have a lot of time. If you’re young and plan to play until dawn no matter what, sure it’s fine. for a busy and married adult needing to have dinner with their SO and who plans to take the last train home to come back, you don’t want to loose time with these less important questions

  • I started a while ago when I was young with some hand-copied extract from AD&D2 copied from the notes of my friends who copied-it on photocopies from his friend with tons of house rule/homebrew at each copy.

Then, played a lot Warhammer FRPG, and finally got some money to buy Nightprowler a french game about thieves in a large city.
