  • Also, don’t get overly proud of this. The idiotic notion of “there are two extremes polarizing everyone,” where they put the left and the right on equal danger-footing, is all over this article. I mean, it’s a few quotes from a few people, but still. That kind of shit is poisonous. It not only likens what the left wants to what the fascists want, but it also shields the far right from the view that their opinions are as dangerous as they are. “We want everyone to be cared for and we think nationalism is wrong” is not the same as “nationalism.” Still a pretty scary article. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s great that the RN didn’t take the election, but they are still a huge portion of that govt. and that is very fuckin scary.

If these numbers hold, it will come down to Macron’s faction to decide who to align with. And counting on neoliberals in that scenario is…scary.

  • Right? You stopped doing something because a bunch of high schoolers think it’s cringe?

It’s weird, companies have always let young people dictate culture for money reasons, but I’ve never really thought about it being adults scared of what kids think. Like…have some personality? Have some kind of sense of who you are and what you like. Fuck what kids think about unimportant trends. We should listen to them when it comes to social issues, because that’s just called progress. But this just strikes me as such a weird way to think.

  • Interestingly, a lot of what you saw in the media dictated liberal responses to it. The Democratic and Republican takes are so driven by the tv news. So, you got a crash course in the root cause of a lot of stupid liberal takes. Though, I will say, maybe where you are the liberals are this backwards, but in the US—I mean…they still got some stupid statist takes, but I would strike a few of these. Liberals were mostly supportive. In fact, the George Floyd protests radicalized some liberals I know.

They are still scared statists at heart, but I think a lot more of these are conservative takes than liberal takes. US Liberals are more the “ease off the gas” crowd and the “if you care so much, vote” crowd. Not so much the “protesters are mad they lost the election” and “police repression is A-OK” crowd.

  • I mean, I’m all for it. I’d be one of those people spending money on the online RDR2 if it were better. If they kept adding missions and story arcs to the campaign, I’d buy every one. But I honestly think gta V changed that company, in more recent years, even. It’s continued making absurd money. It’s literally The most profitable piece of media ever made.

Take Two probably kept winnowing down staff on other titles to bring them into the GTA team, whether that be 5 or 6. I don’t have proof of that, but it feels surprising they would be focusing on anything else after they got RDR 2 to market. I mean, look how bad the online game was initially. And it’s still pretty bad. They did update it a good amount (or so I’m told, I wasn’t around for the beginning. Playing RDR2 in the last two years literally made me a gamer. I’ve spent countless hours playing and replaying that campaign. And it still gets to me. So well written.) I actually just dropped replaying that campaign in the past few months to play Cyberpunk. Which I’m really enjoying, actually.

I’m just saying, they’ve made a lot of shitty moves as a company since 2018. I just wouldn’t be surprised if their entire focus is on GTAV online and GTAVI.

  • …how are you guys not getting that that is my exact point? If this election it’s on the ballot, it’s always been on the ballot. Everyone youve ever voted into office has had their hands in the Israel shit bucket. Our support is not new. What they’re doing the Palestinians is not new. You guys just weren’t paying attention to it before. The tweet implies 8 years ago we didn’t have these problems…but we did. Because everyone you’ve ever voted into office has blood on their hands. The choice is no different this election than it was 8, 12, 16, 24 etc years ago. The only new addition is the overt fascist.

  • My point is, you think this Israel situation hasn’t been on the ballot our entire lives? Because it always has been. Things have gotten worse, sure. But the US has been supporting Israel’s abuse of the Palestinian people, with our votes, since we’ve had the chance to vote. This isn’t new. It’s always been this situation, it’s just changed back and forth between bad and worse.
