  • I legit think streaming sites have become worse than video rental places.

It seemed like a big advantage that you could have unlimited number movies on a streaming site while a video rental store had limited shelf space. But it turns you you have to scroll through endless pages of crap to try to find something you actually want to watch.

Also the shops would eventually have any movie you want to watch. With streaming sites many things will never appear there because the corporation that owns the movie owns their own streaming site and will keep it exclusive to them. In the past it wasn’t a thing where you’d have to keep track of which video rental shop had the rights to rent the movie you want to watch.

There was a time when it was just Netflix and pretty much anything would come on there eventually. That killed video rental. But it’s been a long time since you could find everything on one streaming site, and it’s gotten to be more expensive and time consuming to find a good movie to watch, so going to a video rental shop might actually make more sense now. But they’re all gone now.

Luckily there are websites with dubious legality you can find everything on. I’m willing to pay for a streaming site that’s actually convenient, but they don’t exist anymore, just like Blockbuster.

  • Do you think complaining on the internet will fix things?

Voting is an action people can do. Once people are able to do some form of action, they could be encouraged to further action. Americans are currently below the bar of even voting. You think they’re going to do more than voting if they can’t even do that?

Y’all are so much in love with the romanticized myth of the American revolution you believe that if you write some pretty words about freedom and equality there will be another “clean revolution” that will solve all of your problems. The reality is that your “founding fathers” were slave masters, their pretty words were hypocrisy meant to fool regular people into fighting and dying so that the wealthy slave masters could get wealthier by killing the indigenous people living to the west and taking their land. People were tortured for any dissent, there were massive numbers of refugees from the US during the revolution because of how oppressive the government was.

All of your rights actually came from voting, not from the bullshit fairy tale about “founding fathers” they indoctrinated you into believing from a very young age.

  • It doesn’t really make sense to. The idea of a sending a token force is to act as trip-wire. A trip-wire force is there so if they’re attacked, it means war. In that case, those soldiers would be reinforced. They’re the tip of the spear.

If Canada sent a trip-wire force in Greenland, those soldiers would not be be expecting reinforcements if attacked by the US. Because Canada is on the border with the US there would be fighting much closer to the aggressor than where the trip-wire forces are. So it would be sending soldiers to Greenland and telling them if attacked by the US they will die with no hope of reinforcement.

You put trip-wires on your outer defenses between you and your enemy. You don’t put them far away from the front-lines of a potential conflict. Doing that is just telling soldiers to either die or surrender if attacked.

Remember they’re soldiers not some pawns on a chessboard that you sacrifice for a phony political statement. Really what would be the plan to reinforce Canadian soldiers sent to Greenland if they were attacked by US forces?
