Sounds like you finally have a chance to be the adult in a room. Could be a fun, new experience for you!

Societal change starts with the individual. If one person today has changed their views, it’s a step.
And the way we move on from that is by each of us, individually, deciding that’s not an attack on manhood.
Only because we associate sexuality and “getting laid” with manhood. They aren’t the same. Are asexual men less men? No one’s gatekeeping manhood in this image, they’re gatekeeping sexuality.
Hmm. Normally I’d be inclined to agree, but this really doesn’t feel like it’s punching at men or manliness. It’s more just saying no one will find you attractive if you have a cybertruck. And we all know you can be a man as well as completely unfuckable at the same time.
AI generated art is fundamentally different from printing a reproduction of something that exists 1:1. I’m not interested in going on depth on a technical discussion on AI, anyway. I’d rather discuss the philosophy.
As far as the role of man versus machine, using AI as a tool is more like being a director or composer. You determine the composition. The setting. The subject. The style. Let the machine do the labor of simply outputting, and then you tell it what you don’t like about this output.back and forth, until you arrive at whatever finished is. It’s as much art as a conductor in a symphony, or a director on a set, simply giving direction to a machine.
The issue that people have, or should have, with AI isn’t with AI art, it’s with it being shoe horned into everything that can make a buck. Open source generative AI running on my own machine has allowed me to express myself in ways I never could before. The point of art is expression, and regardless of the tools used to create, that output is still an expression of me. More people should have access to tools to express themselves, in whatever way they can.
Art has always been limited by access. Either to the tools, or to the ability to learn and practice. AI, at least in its current form, with open source models readily available, is only allowing more people to create who never could before. Getting into any art is expensive, both in money and time. Anyone with a half decent rig can get something set up and add a touch of art to their world, and begin to express themselves in SOME way.
They’re more seen at older businesses that have been there forever. Newer ones get newer signs, with more flashy displays.
Any country with controlled airspace will have some initialism brigade with something to say about it.
Who says we torture because we need to?
Here in Portugal, most display useful info like date, time, outside temperature (with varying degrees of accuracy),
We have ones like this in the states too. My favorite near me is at a church. It cycles between temp and date, but the display has too few characters, so instead of just being two screens, date then temp, it’s 3 - day and month, a second screen that just says “/24” and then the temp.
I recently got into armored combat so, knights. If we’re gonna kill each other, let’s at least be civilized!
Ok now THAT’S a weird one to censor.
Oh, man. My mother had cats who would just attack tp or paper towels. We had them both hanging the ‘correct’ way, got tired of it and flipped em. Now, though, I stick to dogs lol
The proper way to hang it, if you have cats, is the other way so they don’t bat it all off if the get access. This is why I do not have cats.
I dunno, have you seen the drivers out there? Pretty sure some of them are watching movies.
Counterpoint, no matter the accessibility options included, there’s always going to be a disability that isn’t compatible. The only game that everyone can play is “sitting alone in your room” and some people even struggle with that. There’s always going to be some level of ability required. As much as that sucks, that some people just won’t be able to experience a thing, it sucks more to have no one experience it for fear of excluding those who can’t.
I’m not an expert on any of this. Just a caveat, I’m sure anything I propose will have it’s share of flaws.
State law enforcement (men armed with guns apprehending private citizens) should be the LAST step. For in-the-moment intervention, cops are already useless - unless they happen to be on site already, whatever violence happen, will happen before they get there. There’s no good answer to stopping a determined violent individual, short of empowering people to defend themselves and others around them.
I think there’s always going to be some level of violent crime. Some people simply don’t function the same way. For these people, we clearly need some kind of active response force. It’s use should be limited, based on hard fact and actual threat to civilian life. We also clearly need some kind of (humane) separation for people who cannot or will not rehabilitate, people who cannot be reintegrated into our society. These are two of the only acceptable uses of state violence, in my opinion.
I don’t know the exact way it would look, but I’d like to see a move towards communities looking after themselves and those around them, in all aspects, and this includes safety and security.
Unfortunately, for property crimes, the only way to actually enforce property ownership is through violence, either direct threat of violence (break my shit and I’ll end you), or state violence (break my shit and the state will send armed men to apprehend you unless you reimburse me). We have to determine what level of property security versus violence we seem acceptable. I tend to fall a bit more extreme towards violence not being okay to protect property - I don’t think there’s a single piece of property worth killing or maiming an individual over. Thus, if the only way to protect property is this level of violence, I believe it is wrong to intervene. I don’t believe it is right for the individual to intervene, and I don’t believe it is right for the state to intervene. The sad truth is that most of what the police force does now is enforce these types of crimes.
You honestly sound very depressed and like you really don’t know what you ARE. Try things, open mindedly, and you may find that some of these things are you, or can be fun regardless. Stop getting in your own way.
