  • I get you but frats are not a great comparison considering they don’t suck funding out of schools in exchange for … entertainment you have to pay a second time for.

It might taste bad for you but how about the students in underfunded programs due to the leeching of athletics? They paid to go to a place of learning and there are only so many seats, which are being reduced to fund… a useless activity. Before you jump on the well rounded individual thing, intramural sports are what most students would have access to and do not require the massive amount of spending that collegiate sports require so it’s not a benefit for the rest of the student population. Why should they be required to hold their tongue because it gives you a bad taste?

  • If there’s an arms race for athletes and the school sports programs pay their tuition through athletic scholarships, then that isn’t free money for the school. It’s allocated out of an already existing school budget that constantly needs to grow and take from other school expenses to afford elite athletes. The sports teams pay rent to the school out of the same existing budget which is part of the school funding so again, it’s money the school already has that has to allocated for upkeep of their facilities. Just like the regular students pay upkeep for the engineering facility, the administration buildings, and the other facilities with their non-scholarship money (meaning it actually came from an external source instead of the school subsidizing).

  • Mine’s probably nostalgia tinged but here goes: FFVII, VIII, IX, and X I love the setting, I love the mechanic changes between the series from materia giving various boosts in 7 to the actual spell slots changing stats in 8 and the summons in 9, and blitzball in 10. The story for each was unique in their own world ending way and beautiful to run through. I replay them probably once every three-five years or so but they mark a high point for me. Adding to the list, Demon’s Souls. I never fully understood the storyline behind it but the sequencing of zones around the central hub and the combat are some of my favorite aspects. I need another play on that soon… It would probably be a little weeby of me to take some life lessons from them but they did help me to understand that hard decisions sometimes have to be made that include personal sacrifice and doing things that are unpleasant in order to move everyone forward and up.

  • I will continue to complain about people who only show up once every four years and bitch about the choices. I do outreach pretty much every year in my local area for whatever election is up next, so seeing apathetic assholes who try to push that apathy on others instead of standing for what they believe the other three years is still going to rankle with me. If they can’t hold their convictions and get involved then they should shut the fuck up about not voting when they can’t bring themselves to. Don’t vote, fine, but if you’re not putting in the work for change don’t try and bring everyone else down with your lazy shit.

  • Didn’t we have a whole impeachment about a president preventing arms that were allocated by Congress from going to their destination? Oh yeah that was Trump trying to get some election fuckery from Ukraine. Granted, the election aspect was another level on it but that is functionally the same thing you’re demanding Biden do which was already determined to not be ok. President doesn’t have that power so maybe instead of wondering why Biden isn’t fixing the thing all on his own, we can start (or continue if you were ever paying attention between presidential elections) pressuring and replacing the Congress critters that are actually approving the sale of arms to continue the genocide. Why does everyone keep getting big man deluded when we know for a fact that the president isn’t a king with total control?

  • Dude. We don’t disagree with you. We just differ in that apparently we don’t like getting chastised about who to vote for by people who don’t participate until the presidential election, but you’re ok with that so long as it’s “for social justice”. I get it’s for social justice and if they cared enough to post online they should care enough to show up supporting a local candidate that has their ideals when it’s not the presidential race. Shit is hard to do and I don’t appreciate putting in the work and getting bitched at by couch warriors. How has that not gotten across to you?
