It feels like our public health systems have gone backwards since covid. Not because we don’t have the skills and resources, but because of ideology.

Not an American but Trump was far more embarrassing to your international reputation than Bush. They’re both 2 of the worst presidents you’ve ever had but Trump is a whole different level of shitty. He’s like fascist shitty, whereas Bush was neo-con shitty.

Brisbane is kind of weird politically. It’s definitely getting more progressive, but there’s still this solid foundation of Queensland conservativism, which is very socially conservative. Brisbane is also described as being a big country town because so many people (myself included) flock here from the regions. Brisbane feels like a bit of an oasis in the desert, but some people do still bring a lot of conservative culture norms with them when they move here. At the same time a lot of people from northern nsw also move here so they kind of level things out a bit.

As a proud weirdo this is what I’m looking for. Just somewhere that’s a little bit more down with diversity in all its forms.

I live in Brisbane but really want to move to Melbourne. Is it actually as progressive and inclusive as everyone says?

In Australia we’ve just essentially criminalised climate protesting. Climate protestors now risk a huge fine and even jail time. A lot of people suspect it’s because governments are preparing in advance for what might become a huge movement that they can’t control. So they’re trying to disincentivise people before shit hits the fan.

Smart enough to get into a phd program but dumb enough to think doing a phd was a good idea.

I actually think community based sustainability is going to be a huge in demand area as climate change worsens. Depending on how much you want to sell your soul to the capitalist machine, there will be plenty of work opportunities in helping companies implement sustainability initiatives.

Also, social work and community development are widely applicable across the human services industry. You could get a job in government or not for profit organisations. In order to qualify as a social worker you’d probably have to do a masters, but there’s plenty of community based roles that you can get into with a bachelors.

Those guys sound like assholes and many would consider their behaviour to be sexual harassment/ assault.

Are there people who genuinely enjoy ads?

Everyone should try and reduce the amount of meat they eat as much as they can. Same goes for flying and driving.
