TIL. I had no idea they offered a lifetime sub and didn’t think a service like theirs would offer that type of thing.

I’ve been wanting to get back into downloading games and software for a while now but I’m torn on how to go about it. One option would be to blindly trust whatever I’ve downloaded even if it’s from what’s supposed to be a trusted source. Another option would be to build a separate computer that I’d never connect to the internet. Covered in this post would be the third and last option I can think of: running the software and games on Linux. Though the question would be, would it be safer to run said software or games in Wine or something Wine-like/based on Wine like Proton under Linux without kneecapping the system and completely removing internet access altogether? I know what I’m asking might be a better fit in it’s own post or commented on a more relevant post but since we’re talking about Lutris and Wine/Proton, just wanted to ask.

That’s what I thought but just wanted to be sure. I’ve not used anything like it before so I wasn’t sure if it were similar to a seedbox. Have they actually sent the information of users to IP holders? I’ve read from other posts that they’ve been taking a more aggressive stance on piracy.

They were also a thought. How exactly does RD work? Do they simply provide access to premium downloads through a given file host or do they store the files?

Maybe, but as an opportunist, I’d certainly take advantage while I can. Having access to reliable downloads alone would be enough for me to throw money at them. I do have to wonder how they’ve been able to operate for so long without getting the axe or at the very least losing their domain. Though honestly I’d think if they were to be sued out of existence it’d have happened long ago.
