Yeah, that’s the fun part. Hooking into some auto-update mechanism would be useful to me.
But my stuff is mostly in the scratching-my-own-itch stage, so setting up a FlatHub account, Flatpak metadata, sandbox rules, probably an icon and screenshots and whatnot, and automating the build+releases, just to get auto-updates, yeah… no.
I could code a whole nother project in the time that would take.

With worm holes, we’re taking mathematical equations that were modelled to reflect what we’ve observed of reality and then we’re pushing them to extreme cases where they’re likely to not anymore model reality correctly, and that is where we’re seeing the theoretical possibility of worm holes. No one has observed nor hallucinated worm holes.

Recently switched from Tumbleweed. Giving up on Plasma 6.1 was a bit of a bummer, although presumably that should arrive in 5 days.

Someone recently updated that page and it’s a bit confusing now. I’m guessing, in the “Use” section, it’s missing a blurb that for side-grading you should then do the steps with the root session and so forth.

I guess, you could see it that way…? The important part is that you don’t have to turn off the whole system. It can continue running without interruption. So, the RAM will be lukewarm when you swap it, but the system will still be hot.
I just fold them over and use a clothes peg to keep them that way…
Apparently, there’s some coordination mechanism, where you tell the OS that you want to remove a certain memory stick, so it moves all the memory onto other RAM sticks (or uses paging to move it to your hard drive). Only then would you actually physically unplug the memory stick.

I just thought, you got confused, because you mentioned the shower. I figured, maybe you’re not aware of the bidets where one can reasonably wash their whole bums. If you weren’t confused, then carry on. 🙃
My experience has been that it makes the perimeter squeaky-clean, but obviously with a finger, you can do some digging. And if you dig deep enough, there’s always going to be mud.
And also in my experience, this digging doesn’t actually help. You’ve got a great gate down there. If the outside of that gate is clean, you’re clean. Digging out from behind that gate doesn’t do much, because new mud will push up against it pretty soon.

I mean, these communities do get created when someone feels like there’s a reason to. There’s just no council or whatever regulating when and where a community gets to be created, so any user on any instance can decide to open up and promote their community.
And frankly, I have no idea what the precise effects are. When you subscribe to all of these, it won’t really be much different from just one big community in that sense. It may mean, though, that someone new accidentally joining only one of the communities will not be presented all the content they want, yeah.
On the flip side, having it split is kind of cool, because you can decide to only subscribe to 2 out of 4 communities, if you only want half as much of this content in your feed. Or you can decide to subscribe to all of these, but not to the one on angry-instance.net, because you don’t like the tone of the discussions in that one.
Yeah, it’s federated, meaning you can subscribe to each of them and post to whichever one you fancy. If you want to post to multiple, it’s a good idea to use the cross-post feature.
Having only one singular official community would be rather bad, as then the respective server owners and moderators would have central control like on Reddit.
So, like, dumb question. People here assumed that I mean AppImages, whereas I actually meant just a statically linked binary. Is that really the only reason why AppImage exists? So, that dynamically linked applications can be distributed like statically linked ones?
