100% the first one, but absolutely hilarious in any case.

Lol. Can’t imagine why someone would call you transphobic for “lump in the trans with the disabled”. LMAO.
I regret being so polite earlier. ✌🏾
Happy Birthday!
The Indian subcontinent shaking and crying right now.
Granted, I think a human stomach is more difficult to traverse than a frog, and it’s more likely that it came in the back door. I’m just not willing to rule it out.
Thank you for your reply. I don’t think we disagree that much, but I’m afraid we may be miscommunicating a bit.
What determines “biological sex”?
Chromosomes? Except someone with Androgen Insensitivity may have XY chromosomes, but physically appear to be female.
Genitalia? But we have intersex people with ambiguous genitalia
Testosterone? Caster Semanya
Full disclosure: this seems more your field than mine. I don’t think I’m educating you, just trying to clarify my point. It seems like you’re arguing against “There’s no such thing as assigned gender at birth”. What I’m saying that there is no objective way to categorize all humans into neat little sex boxes. Biological sex is a spectrum with most people either at the “male” point or the “female” point, but some examples everywhere in between.
I don’t know who stole your history book, but you should probably go look for it.
I’m not going to form a solid opinion about someone with one tweet. I will certainly keep an eye out for more information.
(I don’t think using Lemmy profits this person? I don’t know. I care much more about supporting someone who may be transphobic than just knowing they exist.)
“Biological male” is a meaningless term generally used by transphobes. And the whole debate is transphobic on its face. Nobody cares about women’s sports at all, and now people jumping to"defend their sanctity" are just goofy.
I’m sorry, apparently I can’t read. I somehow glossed over that part. Thanks for the clarification.
I’m new here. I don’t really know anything about the Lemmy devs.
But…that tweet is not particularly transphobic? I’m going to take a hard look at anyone who uses the phrase “the transgender topic”. But if that’s the best proof that the Lemmy devs are transphobic, it’s not terribly convincing.
Or the store just got their Dasani shipment. Or they ordered twice as much because it’s so popular.
Sometimes jokes are funny as long as you don’t think about them too much.
“Not like that! We meant we should debate whether trans people should exist or not! Redistributing wealth is just evil.”
That’s not the same story?
By “How 2016 turned out” you mean the Democrats ran a conservative, establishment Democrat when literally everyone was saying we want change? Then she was beaten by an “outsider” and the Democrats went all ‘shocked Pikachu face’ and blamed progressives for their choices?
Dems think that we owe them our votes while they refuse to represent us. That is not democracy.
It’s so weird how often the people with all the power pretend that compromising with anyone else is the exact equivalent of herding you into camps.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard of the concept of “zoning”, but currently the law is the opposite: people are not allowed to build apartments or duplexes, row homes, etc, because residential areas only allow single family homes.
If you own a single family home, cool. Best wishes, all those things sound like fun activities and I hope you enjoy them. However, those of us who will never be able to afford a single home and don’t need one would like more condos to be built. Now explain how building a condo for me infringes upon your rights.
Tell that to Chelsea Manning.
Sure, the US is mostly freer with information than a country that is unabashedly authoritarian. But ask Ron DeSantis what he was doing at Guantanamo, or the CIA what they did in Latin America. If you don’t think the US hides plenty from its citizens, you haven’t been paying attention.
Our Tianimen Square was Kent State, or maybe the MOVE Bombing, or all of the documented police violence against protesters and marginalized people. Fat lot of good it does that we can talk about them when nothing changes.
I think it makes more sense to hold our government to account than point out the flaws of people we don’t like.
Americans will post a meme about Tianimen Square while eating a Chiquita banana.

Thanks, yeah that is an interesting point. I suppose any sort of experimentation becomes a bit more ethically dicey when the scientist can’t have informed consent from the subject.
