I’m not a church guy at all but having it be obvious which ones are the true cranks and which ones are more middle of the road, or the rare lefty churches seems like a silver lining here.
I don’t think this will change much internally, churches are heavily political and the no endorsing candidates law was seldom, if ever, enforced.

“What we found is that from 2010 to 2023, kids in the United States were 80% more likely to die” than their peers in these nations,

I’d be pretty impressed if salamanders readily incorporated environmental transposons into their genome. Don’t octopuses rewrite their genetics on the fly though? I think I remember reading something about that years ago

The whole site is pretty hilarious imo, used to be a tumblr blog a decade+ ago. Kind of reminds me of old-school somethingawful. I read the book they published too, funny stuff but kind of a vulgar, niche sense of humor that’s not everybody’s cup of tea.

It doesn’t really sound true but the bubbling action of peroxide always seemed a little ominous. Easy to see how this rumor started, it could be generations old.
Asidonhopo@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Anyone else not understand the hate for hydrogen peroxide?English0·21 days agoNot sure if this is true but someone once told me that using hydrogen peroxide on wounds of a certain size might lead to a bubble of gas appearing in the bloodstream, which would be undesirable. I dunno, I rinse my mouth with diluted h2o2 occasionally and might put it on a small scrape but I’m a little leery after hearing that. Also the “cauterizing” effect seems like it might slow healing or cause a more notable scar.

If they raise some for meat they won’t be endangered, seems like a lucrative endeavor if they’re so in demand. I’ve seen other people say raising tiger for meat would prevent their extinction too but pangolins look easier to raise and, frankly, more edible.
Honestly I bet they’re delicious, those plates would soften up if boiled and then you could deep fry the rinds, yum. Fairly chonky critters too, so definitely some good cuts of well-marbled meat. All those ants and grubs they eat would probably give the meat an unforgettable, delectable, craveable flavor. Between goose and turkey size so you could have one on Thanksgiving. Could pangolin break into the top 5 most eaten meats? Easily the top 10.
I will let you know when I eat my first pangolin, hopefully one raised in America.
