Russia isn’t going to help them keep ISIS like groups away. This will end up with regeime change in Chad or Chad asking France or the US to man one or more military outposts in Chad.

I think it is because this signals there will be no more weapon launches to/from Iran. Iranian oil infrastructure would be on the short list of additional targets. Plus there’s always the risk of Iran closing the Persian Gulf.

I would love to see the ruble continue to slide but I think a lot of the current weakness is Israel reducing tension in the Middle East, making lower oil prices more likely. Russia lives and dies on oil production at this point. We need to crash the price of oil and sustain it at a low point to kill the Russian currency.

I am looking at other photos. I can also see “Ne Desit Virtus” (Let Valor Not Fail) with a sword. That’s a symbol from the 187th Infantry Regiment. I also see the Chi Rho symbol, a Greek symbol for the name of Christ. Another tattoo is “MDCCLXXV” for 1775. Above that tattoo is an American Flag with a gun superimposed on it. I am not sure if these mean a recalling of the US War for Independence. The gun looks modern but could also serve as a bridge to the modern military of the US. On his other arm is “Deus Vult.”

Broadly speaking, these tattoos suggest both military service and Christian identity.

Not found are any symbols I’ve seen identified with White Nationalism. No Valknot, swastika, black sun, 88 symbol, Confederate symbolism, etc.

IMO, Iran was expecting an Israeli response on par with what Iran actually hit in Israel and not what Iran targeted. Iran expected Israel to hit some rocks in the desert. Israel hit actual military targets and Iran is outraged. Iran cannot win this game.

I’ve met a few fascists in my life and every one of them has referred to Israelis as “the tribe,” and advocated for arming the Palestinians so they could finish what Hitler could not. Their ideology was ugly but also very unsupportive of Israel.

I think support for Israel is based on their sharing three principle values of the west: liberalism, democracy, & capitalism.

My comment above is literally a summary from a presentation by the Cardinal Kung Foundation. For decades it was illegal to be Catholic in China and the priests and bishops operated clandestine at great risk of being caught. In place of the Catholic Church the Chinese Communist Party created the Patriotic Association to operate like the Catholic Church using priests and bishops who would break communion with Rome in favor of the local communist government. The “deal” between the Vatican and the CCP attempted to reconcile the two groups to each other in a way that was favorable to both but it did not work out that way.

Beijing picks who gets to be a bishop and Rome gives the okay to Catholics to worship in communist party organized parishes with a picture of Mao on the wall and a CCP-edited Bible to read. Also, the hope is China stops arresting Catholics and stops sending them to reeducation camps.
