**In short: **
Six Labor MPs including assistant minister Ged Kearney want their government to change its decision not to include gender identity and sexuality in the census.
Labor frontbenchers have said the decision was made to avoid a “divisive” debate but the MPs say the government should stick to the principle in Labor’s national platform.
Sorta suprised its only 6.
Given its clearly a polutical hot potato. Thanks to tories intentionaly using it to divide and anger some voters.
I cant help but wonder about motives.
The most non negative reason i can think of for MPs not to be bothered. Is fear that thos is more common amonst younger folks who grew up with the idea more acceptable.
As those folks are also more likely to be living at home with family. There is a reasonbly high chance the data would be inaccurate depending on views of head of household.
IE any subject that is politically sensitive would need indevidual secret collection of data. As not everyone would be comfortable discussing it with family members.
???
Okay I know it’s not the point but what the shit is that new ABC logo? That thing is hideous.
New logo? It’s still the criss-crossing thing for me.
The new site design I hate though
Is that weird infinity loop thing not new? I figured it must have come with the redesign.
Nope. That’s been around since the 60s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Broadcasting_Corporation#Lissajous_curve_logo
You might be mistaking the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for the American one.
I absolutely am
Easy mistake to make. The A(ustralian)BC actually predates the A(merican)BC by about a decade!
I would have thought that references to the “Labor Party” and “MPs” (things that do not exist in the USA) was a pretty big hint that this story wasn’t American.
It’s called a lissajous.
