Repair manuals for the Pixel 9 series are now available.
Wait what?
They’re trying to be Fairphone-lite?
They’ve also had a partnership with iFixit for a while now, allowing them to sell genuine replacement parts.
The process still isn’t what I’d call repair-friendly, but I’ve been able to replace the screen of my Pixel 5 without much trouble. What bothers me most is the use of adhesive and too many parts being bundled together so they can only be replaced in bulk.
First time pixel owner. My 9 arrived today. Always have been as Samsung so this is exciting. Hopefully there won’t be any QA issues this time…
JerryRigEverything said is his recent teardown review that Pixel repairability has gotten particularly worse on the 9. Sounded like the battery was very difficult to remove
iFixit said the same, aswell as that removing the screen will break it, even with special care taken.
