This thing just started popping up and I hate it. Edit - added picture of offending box.

I haven’t seen it. Can you explain where you see it? I find the Amazon Container Addon pretty helpful, and you may also look into site-specific permissions, such as blocking microphone, camera, and location sharing on certain sites. If it is a certain element that show up, you may be able to block it using a custom setting in your ad blocker.

An excellent dude played by George Carlin.

But the internet seems to suggest it’s an AI that first debuted in Amazon’s mobile app. Maybe it’s been released onto the main website or maybe just the main .com or something. (I’m in .co.uk land, and try not to use Amazon unless I absolutely have to.)

From the article I skimmed, there is - or was back in March - no way to save or export conversations had with it, which seems like a red flag to me.

I blocked it with uBlock Origin, using the element picker thing. Seems to be working well enough so far.

It first showed up on amazon.com for me yesterday. I found an article that mentioned it popping up on there from like a month ago, so they might be doing a slow roll-out or something.

It’s basically just an AI chat window that pops up on all of the product pages. I thought it was pretty obnoxious.

Aha, maybe you can block it with ublock origin or something. I don’t look at amazon pages much, but occasionally do, and haven’t noticed the bot so far. It may already be in the ublock origin block list.

Do you have any Amazon add-ons installed in Firefox? Did you, or someone who uses your computer, install any software recently?

If it is a Firefox add-on causing the issue and you have more than one that could be the culprit, start by disabling all of them. If that fixes the issue, then it is just a matter of enabling each add-on (one at a time) to discover which one is causing the issue. When you figure out which one it is, uninstall it.
