[Palestine Action] has won permission to challenge its controversial ban.

The High Court ruled on 30 July that proscription of the group, which has carried out break-ins at defence firms linked to Israel as part of direct action protests, should be reviewed.

Palestine Action was banned under terrorism law after activists broke into RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire in June, and sprayed two Voyager planes with red paint. Police said the incident caused about £7m of damage.

There have always been people who mis-appropriate righteous causes to justify their shitty behaviour. Like the people shouting Death to canada at a Vancouver rally.

Tin foil hat time: There is a conspiracy to elevate unhinged people to prominence in progressive movements as a poison pill. It’s effectively a false flag operation but with extra steps.

Just like all it takes is 1 Nazi flag, all it takes is 1 idiot making it to the microphone for the entire protest to be labeled a call to violence. (though I do agree allowing nazi flags or dinner guests is a damning decision).

        1. Not all direct action helps its cause though.

Prior to the Death to Canada incident, only genuine racists had a problem with Pro-Palestine marches. The public sentiment shifted negatively because of that incident. Meanwhile Canada is still selling weapons to Israel. So what the did it accomplish? Not change. Not awareness. Not solidarity.

        1. Direct action doesn’t justify racially profiling businesses, breaking and entering to destroy documents, and committing crimes.

If you consider crimes against american-israelis Direct action, than by your definition MAGA racism is also Direct Action against their perceived threat of immigrants. Are you justifying that? I don’t think so.

This direct action made national news and has brought Palestine further into the public consciousness.

It has not tarnished the movement, and has resulted in multiple protests all over the country, many being attended by retired professionals that likely wouldn’t attend protests otherwise. There’s even one organised for this weekend in London which has already gained national headlines due to the response from Downing Street and the Met.

Canada and America are different countries with different politics to the UK.

You clearly know fuck all about the views held in the UK so why are you even commenting in this community?

            Because…

There have always been people who mis-appropriate righteous causes to justify their shitty behaviour.

If you take that personally than perhaps you should.

Isn’t that what’s called Astroturfing? Been happening for years sadly, I’m sure of it.
