The climate cost is more than than the combined 2023 emissions of Costa Rica and Estonia, study finds
The carbon footprint of the first 15 months of Israel’s war on Gaza will be greater than the annual planet-warming emissions of a hundred individual countries, exacerbating the global climate emergency on top of the huge civilian death toll, new research reveals.
The paper: War on the Climate: A Multitemporal Study of Greenhouse Gas Emissions of the Israel-Gaza Conflict
Israel is fucking cancer, and the world just stands by doing nothing. Same as pre WW2.
Should be wiped off the map
Do we have a comparative figures/estimates for russia’s war on Ukraine? Or historical figures for the war on Iraq, Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea, Vietnam? How does it look when we go back to WW2 and WW1? What about Africa’s wars?
Those would be interesting to compare.
And then we could compare them all to the shipping industry.
Please, stop using the tactic of whataboutism. Meaning, this paper is specifically about Israel’s war on Palestine, so let’s talk about this post, and not everything else instead.
Edit: I need to correct my comment, since this paper is about
- Israel - Palestine
- Israel - Iran
- Israel - Lebanon
- Israel - Yemen
ah yes, they are have been burning infants alive for a year now. telling them about the carbon footprint is really going to stop those scum.
unless I’m reading this wrong it looks like the largest single factor listed is the humanitarian aid followed by the Israeli artillery
According to this study, it looks like most emissions come from Israel’s IDF
Over 99% of the almost 1.89m tCO2e estimated to have been generated between the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack and the temporary ceasefire in January 2025 is attributed to Israel’s aerial bombardment and ground invasion of Gaza.
