Incident like this are why corporations’ aggressive data collection is so dangerous.
Imagine other US networks, including but not limited to T-Mobile US and TV networks getting customer data breached too. My aunt is subscribed to T-Mobile family plan.
In the US they’re legally compelled to collect and retain all call logs, text, gps coords (and others), so cops can search all of it through a web portal without search warrants. Data breaches are guaranteed.
It’s just mindless collect, collect, collect with the hope of making it profitable with zero concern for any other consequences.
For the phone companies it’s not mindless. It’s an agreement with military intelligence to gather and sell it to the NSA
since at least the early 2000s
