After years of hardcore development, the Pixelfed project is taking a big next step by seeking crowdfunding dollars on Kickstarter.

Pixelfed has been making incredible strides over the past few years, and has begun developing a suite of different platforms and services for the Fediverse. After just one day on Kickstarter, they’ve already smashed their campaign goal.

But they still need your help!

    I decided not to keep supporting Pixelfed after the weird coments dansup was making about people developing other clients and his apparent wish of putting ads on the platform. I was already getting people from my circle to create accounts on it, so it was very disappointing.

    There’s also another whole situation with the way he speaks but that isn’t that much of an issue for me

      I criticize as much as the next fan of Pixelfed, but dansup has repeatedly stated that he has no intentions of putting ads on it.

      I believe the rumors started when people noticed AdMob in the version released to the app store. You can review the source code yourself to confirm. I except a fully de-googled version on F-Droid with UnifiedPush support instead, if he ever gets around to it…
