    wouldnt it be nice if the united states had the balls to tell people that just because you can build somewhere, doesnt mean you should, and if you do youre on your fucking own

    this idea that because you built a house somewhere means someone should be required to insure it is bonkers

      It’s better to make that clear before people build houses, and conditions can change so that places which were previously not too high a risk are now high-risk.

      The problem is that the conditions have changed since they were built.

      In the historical context, it is common for communities to change or become abandoned due to climate issues. It just hasn’t happened on a mass scale in the USA.

      Last case I can think of is Galveston’s population moving to Houston.
