The nation’s ability to respond to H5N1 is likely to be undercut by the incoming administration.
Maybe if enough conservatives die from refusing to get vaccinated, some better options open up in the future. Unless the trump administration just outlaws vaccines and we all die. That’s bad.
dems would immediately join the republican party in droves to prop it up, so no
Well, if anyone knows how to fumble a pandemic response, it’s this guy. Which is ironic considering what a germaphobe Trump supposedly is, you’d think that’d be the one thing he actually cared about.
It would actually be worth living through another pandemic if it means Trump can’t execute his plans.
I somewhat agree but another pandemic is also a great excuse for potential economic issues, a great topic to distract people from unpopular measures and - as with the ‘china virus’ - something to villainize migrants or political opposition.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
I wouldn’t mind a return and hopefully stick of WFH after they kept trying to force people back.
If H5N1 turns into a pandemic under Trumps rule, it will be seriously bad. No masks, no closing down businesses and schools, no vaccines.
Luckily, we can do our own vaccine development here in Europe.
Most points stand, but Trump actually was pro-vaccine in his first term despite the rhetoric of the opposite. He just doesn’t talk about it because of his supporters being anti-vaccine. He did initiate Operation Warp Speed which was used to speed up vaccine development.
With an anti-vaxxer heading the CDC, a second Operation Warp Speed will nost likely be off the table.
Yeah we had Dr Fauchi at the time. And Trump even listened to him up until he started getting more attention at those press conferences. That’s when it all went off the rails and bleach enemas entered the chat.
Better stock up on hydroxychloroquine and horse paste! /s
