It’s true though, which is an unfortunate reflection on the state of transit infrastructure in the US. Plenty of other countries have gotten it right, via tram,subway, etc. The US has not.
The US has emphasized urban sprawl by spewing the American dream of a single family home on one level with 5 bedrooms, a three car garage, and a 1/2 acre backyard. This creates low population density, which makes public transportation much less feasible.
“I just find driving more convenient. Transit always takes longer and never goes where you need it to, and with a car I get to be comfortable”
They type into their phone arguing on Facebook while sitting at the dealership waiting for their car to be ready

We need to refocus on high density city living.
