“Get your bigass caption outta my ears, IDOT”
Can someone explain to me why more and more youtube videos just have words or a video title behind major, or random elements of the thumbnail?
Like… I get it if you are artfully blocking part of a controversial word, or making the imagery and text flow together.
But the last year I’ve been seeing more and more people just do text masking on thumbnails completely randomly, such that its not clear at all what the full word or phrase even is, making the inclusion of text in that manner just pointless.
Might be sloppy mass production or a trick to make you wonder what it says and watch the video to find out
I guess, but if it the latter, I filter it out as incompetent immediately.
I feel this way with subtitles flashing for each word individually - getting triggered before the last word has even stopped animating. Usually not even the full video, just for select sentences. Why even have subtitles at all if you still have to rely on seperate or auto-generated ones? Much like having alternate titles in thumbnails I guess. Maybe that’s just my 3 am brain speaking
