I should thank her for writing such a boring, tedious book filled with “old man yells at cloud” energy that it started me on the path away from prescriptivism.

It’s the title from the article. The words help and out are literally the 3rd and 4th words on the page.
How do you feel about hiccough?
Are the UK pigs are always wrapped in bacon? In the states the “blanket” is far more commonly some sort of bread, like puff pastry.
How’d you make like 15 posts simultaneously?
pls enjoy some cyriak
lol, like google respects the boolean minus or plus these days. This is maybe a cool guide for google from 15 years ago.
Japan’s changed in the last few years. Chain restaurants there’s a separate air tight smoking room or you can’t smoke indoors at all. Local places might allow it but I feel like I don’t see it much even then. The only places left that have it seem to be bars or izakayas.
Is this a US expression? I never heard it growing up so I just assumed it was from the UK or something
Hey, I don’t criticize your hobbies…
Do they sell the 500 ml version? The cans in this pic are 330, which is a bit smaller than the standard 350 in Japan as well.
If you zoom in on the can it says 6%. Japan went through a phase of increasing alcohol percentages on these types of drinks ~10 years ago when the govt was raising taxes on beer a few times in a relatively short time period. They first came out with the “strong” versions which were 9%, and I think that wave peaked at a 13% lemon drink (which tasted like licking a robot, btw).
More recently Japan’s been a little more health conscious about booze in general, so there’s been an increase in types of non-alcoholic versions of drinks, including pale ale type beers and cocktails. The companies making cheap options like the -196 and the zeros have subsequently put 6 and 7% versions in the stores. There’ve also been studies showing young people drinking less overall, so it’ll be interesting to see what the next moves are.
No, you use the fascist power granted by fascists to abuse the fascists who granted it in the first place. Power is the only thing that stops fascists. Start with a few nights in a black site for the justices who thought granting absolute power to the president was OK. If scotus already accepts fascism from their team it’s already too late for your plan to work.
If you know the Sinatra version you might also know it was done by tons of other people, like Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Mel Tormé, etc. Sinatra wasn’t even the original.
Maybe I just had different expectations. I really thought it would have interesting things to say about grammar, but it was just her complaining about the same surface-level type of thing over and over. I guess I just wasn’t expecting something meant to be popular instead of substantive after the hype I’d heard around it-- guess I didn’t look enough into what it was beforehand.
