Adding to this: just call around to different repair shops for the product you’re shopping for and ask them. Not only might you get some great advice, but you’ll also get an idea of who to call when you do need their services. How they respond when they know you’re not spending any money is a pretty good indicator of their true customer service.

I wear white wraparound sunglasses. Do the polarized rainbow gradient lenses help me?!? Or am I a lost cause?

0·4 days agoI’m the same way with things, but I do think you handled this poorly. When people do things like this for me, also knowing I’d prefer to keep what I have or fix it if it’s malfunctioning/broken, my response is usually something along the lines of: “Thank you! This will come in handy when I can no longer use the one I have now. I’ll keep this safe until then!”
As someone else pointed out, they probably had a very good reason for getting that for you. When my lady bought me a new cell phone and I said basically what I wrote above, her response was that while she understands my current phone works, it doesn’t always work well, and she’d like to have longer, more meaningful conversations with me while I’m out of town. I asked her what she meant, since I saw no problem with it. She said my current phone didn’t keep a charge very long and the microphone wasn’t great. I learned that she called me less often than she’d like to because she felt like having me repeat myself and having to stop my work to charge the phone while having our talks was a bother to me, so she figured this would fix both of those problems. I swapped the service to the new phone immediately. She was elated, I was happy she was happy, and honestly I have a great phone that lasted two days on a charge for over a year. I also rarely have to repeat myself now, and didn’t realize that I was, in fact, bothered having to repeat myself until I didn’t have to.
Win-win, but you’ll never know if you shut it down.
This is the way! Bonus points if you set it up on a timer so that you can have your phone face down when it occurs, saving you from any suspicion.
And there would be less needless fatalities than with our current police force.

13·11 days agoExactly my thoughts. What does this joker even mean? I regularly use 2-3 monitors, and have used four in certain roles. Almost everyone I know that really uses their machine has, at minimum, two screens.
I looked them up and they are pretty similar. I want to say that’s not them cause they aren’t exactly what I remember, but it probably is. I was a kid in a foreign land when I saw them, so who knows.
I can’t remember the name of them, but the pen was made of metal. Those never came off!
Permanent marker is just as easy to remove. On virtually any surface all you need is isopropyl alcohol and a cloth/tissue/napkin/etc. I was also thinking of it from the perspective of vandalizing a possibly insane persons property and want to be done as soon as possible.
Blue and white electrical tape would work faster and cleaner. You’re welcome. ☺️

0·14 days agoThanks for replying! I’m an aesthetics guy, and would be happy if it matched the native iOS aesthetic. I feel like Liquid Glass is incorporated perfectly everywhere in the app except the video player. The buttons give an iOS 18 vibe. In addition to this I really like the -10/+10 seconds function. I often want to skip back just so many seconds to hear something I missed or want to hear again.
I love this song! The first two or three times I hear it each year. By the five hundredth time, I’m considering shoving a screwdriver in each ear.
Depends on what it is and what it offers. If the product is something unlikely to experience failure that would be covered(like a standard, basic Weber grill), then no. If it is and there are no additional offerings for registering, then no. I keep photo copies of my receipts so there is never a question about purchase dates or warranty expiration. If there are additional offerings, I weigh the need for them and if they are good enough then yes, I will.
I’ll add to this that I always buy the insurance anytime it’s offered. I accidentally bought it with a TV about a decade ago and two days after the warranty expired I was moving and dropped the TV(barely. It was about an inch from the floor an shouldn’t have had a failure from the drop). It would give audio but no video. I told them that and they still replaced it, free of charge, with a much better model. My electric shaver just died two and a half years after I bought it and used it every day: replaced for free with a better model. The insurances have paid for themselves at this point.

0·24 days agoI haven’t used the app before this update—in fact, I never used Lemmy before and this app is my only interaction with it. I love it! It works well, I’ve personally encountered no bugs, and it’s made Lemmy look like a great alternative to Reddit.
Having said that: I would like to see videos use the native player, or have an option to do so by default. This is the only thing I would change about it.

My parents had a washer/dryer combo(LG I think?) that required internet to work at all. They just connected it when they first got it and didn’t realize connectivity was required until there was an internet outage. They promptly replaced it with separate Maytags that’s so far seem to be pretty hardy.
