Aus put this rule in place because work places were not complying with the safety side.
It might be more than that but I am willing to bet that the conditions that they work in are controlled by people who count every shilling. The pressure to keep the job is probably such that the workers are caught in a situation that needs the government to step in… But that’s communism!
Companies are scared by losing their insurance. Insurance companies are scared of lawsuits…

Most cases I’ve seen the company enforces ppe rules but when the boss is gone the people tear that stuff off. The boss is generally seen wearing it and forces employees to wear it but the boss is often elsewhere.
If I had a dollar for every write up I’ve done just to make people wear safety glasses….
I’ll be the first one to argue for more PPE and heat-relief supplies, and also the first one to yell at people to use them 💀
In Australia it’s pretty much just idiots taking off or not wearing compony provided PPE
