Sounds more like an attempt to be funny and bigoted against a gay man. Congrats. You aren’t funny, but you succeeded in your bigotry.

And just how in the hell is that bigoted? Man’s a huge dick. Unless he dresses up like one in the bedroom (which would be admittedly hilarious) his being a neoliberal stooge has fuckall to do with his sexuality. I just. What are you even doing?? Are you so sensitive to homophobia that a negative comment about a gay man that mentions dicks must be becauze I’m a homophobe? Should I have called him a corporate-loving cunt instead? Sure, it’s a gendered insult with a history of sexism far more problematic than calling him a knobhead, but hey at least its not homophobic. If so you might want to take a break from the internet.

I, a man, have sucked at least as many dicks as he has. But while I have blown many rooms full of dudes, I have always been very careful to never blow a room full of wall street execs. He really can’t claim the same. Fuck Pete B, and fuck you for trying to use accusations of homophobia to derail legitimate pushback based on his actions as a public figure. Stop weaponizing my sexuality.

… Are you trying to call me bigoted while invoking the spectacularly homophobic stereotype of gay men being self loathing because of their sexuality? Because even ironically that’s pretty gross to fall back on.

“I know you are but what am I?” Is a deflection tactic used by children. And it’s hardly convincing anyone.

Don’t try to hide your bigotry by accusing others when they call you out on it. it’s obvious projection and crude. Not to mention predictable.

Sure it’s a cheap pun, but I guess I didn’t realize how many people really like buttigieg. Which is deeply surprising tbh, I’m usually pretty spot on with the broad attitudes of lemmy politics.

I’m kinda assuming most of the hate is bandwagoning or people who’ve never looked into his politics. Man’s pretty awful.

He was (famously) a fairly high-ranking McKinsey consultant, which is a bit old news but it still baffles me how openly corrupt our political situation is that he was afforded a cabinet position. But on a more recent note, his absolute failure to do anything, including public health announcements, for a full week after the East Palestine derailment. when his office knew there were serious public health concerns has directly lead to the death of a family member. Admittedly that family member was an idiot, but an idiot with fragile health due to an organ transplant. I don’t know if a prompt response would have convinced them to leave or wear a mask or something, but holy fuck is it inexcusable that Buttigieg waited so long to warn nearby residents of the danger.

Lmao this was his first job after he graduated from Oxford, when he was 25. “Fairly high-ranking” my ass.

He got a cabinet position because he was a popular candidate for the Democratic nomination in 2020 and he’s smart as a whip with a tongue to match. There are few people who are more competent the role, and whatever nefarious thing you think is happening is based entirely on your feelings.

Also the US DOT doesn’t have the authority to issue health warnings, so your anger there is misplaced.

The EPA is responsible for announcing environmental threats to public health, not the Department of Transportation. Buttigieg had nether the authority nor remit to make such an announcement.

Place your blame where it belongs, and, in the meantime, educate yourself on the functions of our governmental departments.

The answer is to stop sharing paywalled articles or provide an archive link as the OP.

That is, if you’re looking for discussion. If you’re just here to post headlines that sound good, don’t.

I understand the strategy of “they are weird” which Tim Walz used. My problem is Trump isn’t weird, he is a rapist, racists, wannabe authoritarian, psycho. That’s not weird, that is dangerous to everyone.
