It’s like they are trying to take us back to the past when they abused the hell out of people.

They are just lucky Americans are generally uneducated and don’t know any better.

    What a truly grotesque situation

Some narcissistic cunt wades in and ruins people’s lives, and there’s zero accountability

America is fucked, and Texas & similarly stupid states are absolute disasters

No, this is a misleading headline. The city is proposing a zoning change, and it’s required to give property owners notice using boilerplate language as set out in Texas law. Residential zones are typically the most restrictive, so the move to mixed-use zoning actually will allow owners more options for the use of their own property.

They voted to give the town over to the company. No sympathy from me.

Starbase was officially formed earlier this month after Musk’s aerospace and defense contractor prevailed in a local election. It is now run by officials who are SpaceX employees and former employees.

As of early this year, the population of Starbase stood at around 500 people, with around 260 directly employed by SpaceX, the Texas Tribune reported. Most other residents of Starbase are relatives of SpaceX employees.

I’ve never heard anything good about company towns. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen. To me it just seems like another way for a company to control the workers and a quick path to indentured servitude.

I’d say good thing we have laws against that, but the GOP has the supreme court now and is hell bent on undoing everything. Thanks protest non voters.

Who said I’m whining? I enjoy informing protest non voters of what they voted for. And the resulting gymnastics of course.

So there was no way votes could’ve been possibly gerrymandered or manipulated? That which now will be completely failed to rectify for the forseeable future.

E: Just for the record, I voted same as you did if you didn’t vote for this shit now.

The notice, sent to property owners in a proposed “Mixed Use District,” would allow for “residential, office, retail, and small-scale service uses.”

Right. Seems like a common rezoning change. There’s a trend towards more mixed use.

This does not appear to be exceptional.
